VavaCars is setting out to revolutionize the way used cars are traded in emerging markets, by creating the world’s most trusted car transaction platform. Headquartered out of London, with initial locations in Pakistan and Turkey, we aim to provide ease, transparency, simplicity, and trust to buyers and sellers of used cars, which includes consumers, corporates, and franchise- and independent- used car dealers.
Role Mission
We are looking for an agile creative thinker who is skilled at interpreting data and identifying potential risks and trends to inform both our proactive and reactive capabilities in mitigating fraud risk. You will also be developing and implementing a compliance program for VavaCars in Turkey, which includes setting up policies, systems and controls throughout the organization.
You will be responsible for:
- Focusing on surfacing and interpreting relevant information and intelligence, through review of our transaction data to identify potentially suspicious orders
- Developing and implementing an appropriate compliance and risk management, data privacy framework, and KYC standards (dealers and business partners)
- Identification of compliance risks including competition laws, anti-bribery laws, anti-money laundering requirements, anti-fraud and corruption, and data privacy requirements
- Implementing appropriate policies, systems and controls to ensure that (i) VavaCars is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and (ii) VavaCars mitigates fraud risk
- Ensure continuous review and update of policies, systems and controls
- Advising VavaCars management, business and support functions on fraud and compliance matters for improving operations and preventing fraud
- Managing the day-to-day the Fraud and Compliance function
- Liaising with Shareholder Compliance (Vitol) functions to ensure consistency of approach towards Compliance matters
- Delivering training as and when required
- Monitoring staff’s compliance with all the policies, systems and controls through ad hoc reviews or following external requests
- Representing Compliance at internal and external working groups
Requirements
- At least 7 years’ experience in a Compliance and Fraud Prevention roles in consumer goods industry
- A good understanding of the regulatory compliance and risk issues that a company like VavaCars (C2B2B / C2B2C) faces
- Good knowledge of Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering framework
- Experience of implementing an anti-fraud and compliance program
- A skeptical mindset, not accepting an explanation on its face value. Be able to envisage and think of out of the norm scenarios
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and data-driven skills
- Experience working in fraud analytics and interpreting commercial / e-commerce data
- Experience using SQL to extract data from relational databases
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills
- An ability to find solutions to complex and hard problems and ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans
- The horsepower to work in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and to balance multiple priorities and workstreams
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders across the business
