A unique opportunity has arisen for a Junior Legal Counsel to work in the Legal Team of a new autotech start-up. VavaCars is setting out to revolutionize the way cars are traded, by creating the world's most trusted car transaction platform. Launched in 2019, with headquarters in London, and operations in Pakistan and Turkey, we are creating a digi-physi brand rooted in transparency, innovation, simplicity, modernity and togetherness.
Role Mission
When you join the legal team you get the opportunity to interact with all areas of the company: one day you are involved developing partnership contracts, another you are reviewing general credit agreement with banks.
You will be enthusiastic and passionate about legal and compliance matters with a strong attention to detail and bias for action.
Responsibilities
- Follow up and answer the legal correspondences and requests,
- Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation and the regulatory environment as to pertains to used car trading,
- Liaise with the authorities to ensure that the Company is in compliance with the relevant legal framework,
- Advise all the departments with regards to electronic commerce law, personal data protection law and consumer law,
- Anticipate and proactively provide legal advice to all departments of the Company in daily activities in all aspects of law in order to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and to minimize risks,
- Draft, review and negotiate various legal documents,
- Assistance in preparation and negotiations of standard contracts,
- Initiate and follow up of legal proceedings where necessary,
- Provide training programs to the employees on law and data protection matters.
Requirements
- Law degree from a reputable law school with bar admission
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in corporate law firms and/or as in-house counsel
- Experienced in Personal Data Protection, Electronic Commerce, Contracts, Corporate, and Consumer Law
- Preferably with experience in litigation
- Strong communication skills to discuss goals, challenges, and progress
- Excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task multiple projects and initiatives effectively and prioritize work are essential
- Highly capable of meeting strict deadlines in a high-pressure environment
- Have the ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
- Highly motivated, goal / detail oriented, can-do attitude
- Male candidates shall have no military liabilities
- Fluent in written and verbal English
