The position in a nutshell
Cloud DevOps Engineer is responsible for 2-3 client implementation projects simultaneously and drives them towards value realization by understanding and translating the client’s marketing/business use cases in order to design an integrated approach suitable to their needs. (S)he is responsible for the overall health of multiple applications and their operating environments while interacting with Development team members to design and deliver the applications with high availability and stability.
Working with cloud-based resources to define standards and processes for the development and deployment of scalable, reliable applications.Responsibilities- Deploy and maintain critical applications on cloud-native microservices architecture.
- Design and implementation of cloud-based services running on cloud infrastructure and ensure that they meet the business objectives and adhere to service level agreements (SLA).
- Implement automation, effective monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code
- Investigate new techniques, tools, methods that might increase efficiency among engineering amp; technology and cloud teams, as well as leading execution processes of topics evaluated amp; planned for roll-out.
- Collaborate with other technical leaders and business stakeholders to align all constraints and come up with solutions regarding project/product/initiative outputs.
- Perform pre-sales consultancy by supporting status quo in client meetings, help the client decide the solutions amp; service in alignment with expectations, help Account, New Business amp; Engineering stakeholders to define strategy amp; offerings (specific to a project)
- Be accountable for the reliability and security of cloud infrastructure and services.
- Provide visibility of performance, cost, and the security of cloud infrastructure and services.
- Drive continuous improvement, continuous delivery, and lean practices within the cloud team.
- Keep up to date on modern technologies and trends and advocate for their inclusion within products when it makes sense.
- Identify emerging technology solutions that reduce cost, increase efficiencies, enhance capabilities, reduce risk and improve security.
- Ensure that all cloud technology applications create a positive customer experience.
Qualifications- BS/MS degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tools and infrastructure automation
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience with containerized systems and experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, BitBucket CI/CD, GitLab CI/CD
- Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Chef, Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet
- Knowledge of Shell scripting such as Bash, Sh, Zsh
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Nice to have- Knowledge of cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba Cloud, etc.
- Experience with Infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation
- Experience with APM tools such as Newrelic, AppDynamics
- Code development in Python
- Experience with Relational Database Systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.)
- Experience with In-Memory Cache Systems (Hazelcast, Redis, Memcache, etc.)
- Experience with NoSQL Databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.)
